I just got the heads up from Michael Prescott that two FOX News reporters were kidnapped in Gaza. That shows the persistent violence of the terrorists there, despite all international treaties and agreements.
Even though that is horrible, it is not so surprising. What is so surprising is the response from some of the liberal left. In an entry on a liberal site that recorded the incident, they posted comments that make me doubt why they are allowed to be citizens. The outpouring of hatred against fellow-Americans is so horrible to read, I’m not going to put it up here. Just go to the link above. The leftists wonder whether the FOX News reporters are human, and say that they deserve being abducted for their acts. They go on to make what amounts to death threats against Bill O’Reily and other FOX anchors. Of course the usual appellations of Nazi are repeated over and over again. That’s just the tip of the iceberg.
The moderator of the string didn’t shut it down till more hateful comments than you can read had been posted. He also deleted some of the comments, so there’s no telling what some of those contained.
These are the peace mongers we’re talking about here. The anti-violence and anti-war protesters are saying this stuff. I guess hate and intolerance only apply to other people, not them.

Hi Althusius,
I didn’t realize you have a web site. It looks good, I’ve got it bookmarked.

Thanks.

this is deplorable behavior indeed, but note that the blogger you quote and link to states “some, not all.”
and some folks on the site you refer to condemmed those behaving badly - so again - some, not all.
the DU is not mainstream. i.e., it doesn’t represent the majority of liberals. Actually, liberals are fairly mainstream, though we often get brushed with a leftist paintbrush by some (not all) folks on the right, or far right. oh, these disticntions serve only to polarize us all.
not all liberals, leftisits, antiwar protesters, etc. behave this way. and i have stumbled across many a blog belonging to republicans and conservatives, hawks, etc. that behave as badly.
we should all of us, condem such behavior, regardless of from whom it comes. it serves only to flame the fires and distract us from dealing with real issues.
now, about your comment about “why they are allowed to be citizens.” do you not recall - we have freedom of speech indeed. you can be a citizen and say horrible things. not without consequence of course. indeed, you have a right, as a citizen, to say what you think.
which leads me to a comment earlier, on another post. some so-called christians sporting banners and signs that say “god hates fags” -whch you said, doesn’t mean they will kill fags.
no. maybe not. but such statements can encourage others to kill fags. freedom of speech is restricted to some degree - you do not have the freedom to shout “fire” in a crowded theater - there’s the typical example. nonetheless, if you do shout “fire” in a crowded theater, your citizenship is not revoked.
so we should condem those who say “god hates fags” as well as those folks on the DU spreading their own brand of hatred. neither is acceptable. but neither is cause for revocation of citizenship.

Yes, the DU is not mainstream liberalism. But it still shows what some on the far left think of other Americans. Sadly, the far left is becoming more and more mainstream liberalism. You can see this in the recent primary in Connecticut, where Lieberman (hardly a conservative, opposed to Bush, but happened to think that Iraq is winnable) was rejected by Democrats for the Senate seat.
some folks on the site you refer to condemmed those behaving badly….we should all of us, condem such behavior
Those who weren’t condemning them were liberals. One of them Matthew, who is commenting on the previous post. You should admonish him.
Citizenship
I know people have the right of free speach under the Constitution. But that right also entails some responsibility. Slander, death threats, libel, etc. are not lawful or right. Those people were uttering death threats toward fellow Americans, just because they didn’t subscribe to their political philosophy. That’s hate, violent hate toward Americans, and therefore America.
I said that the GOD HATES FAGS people aren’t killing anybody, not that they won’t in the future. Though I highly doubt that they will.

You are using the same dictionary my mother passed on to me when she died?
There are two definitions of sycophant, and you chose the one you felt more “manly” with?
I
ve very little time right now, but, what I wrote was quick….
the comment at Percival’s, that is…
and I was extremely uncomfortable about doing it there, though, that is why I felt you were being as quarrelsome a person as possible.
I plan on starting a new blog, specifically pertainning to points you continually bring up, and, though I truly doubt whether you have the ability to converse points at all (this is not a “slight” as, in my opinion, one who stops learning stops living and dead people argue emphatically and, unfortunately as if only their word is true)
In any case, once up and running, I would be glad for you to come and comment.
Now, as for the short term…
If you haven’t been paying attention, the topic du jour at Percival’s was whether one can argue against bigotry with a bigot.
You are actually proving out the fact that it is near impossible.
And, I say this without knowing how you feel about muslims, islam, christianity, jews, hinduism, or gnostics. There are actually two other sects, but, why go into that as you probably don’t care….
am I right?
Parasite. That was a surprise to me. And, in fact, when going back to the dictionary….actually, the Reader’s Digest Encyclopedic Dictionary (I think it’s called) when seeing it there, it amazed me at first.
Then again, what value can one put in something that calls itself any kind of “big view” dictionary when it doesn’t even list the word felatio?
Sorry you took such offense to my interpretation, sir.
Paul and I will have long, fine conversations on what has been called what it is called, but, then we will laugh and live in the LIGHT.
I hope you will be there with us.

and, by the way.
I gave two examples of those who held signs denouncing fags as people being not only murderers down the road, but also pretty much way off the mainstream of civilized, human response.

I took the definition from an online dictionary. Here’s the definition that I saw. Sorry if it wasn’t the one you were thinking of.
That was a quick comment? It was pretty long, if I do say so myself, and I do accept your apology for being rash. You still have tthe same views that I pity you for, but I still forgive you.
With all you guys saying that I’m a horrible intolerant bigot, none of you realize that you’re not changing your views at all, and are unwilling to address the issues at stake.
the topic du jour at Percival’s was whether one can argue against bigotry with a bigot.
Ah, finally you guys call me a bigot, though you still haven’t addressed my arguments to the contrary (e.g. if one disagrees with someone, does that mean that they hate them?). I noticed Percival didn’t argue that one either.
Sure I care, give me them.
I didn’t take offense to your insult. I just merely pointed out how it was hypocritical for you to post that and Percival to tolerate it.
I pity you, Barry. You think that you know God, and boast of it, yet you reject His Son. I hope that you will come to the correct realization through the working of the Holy Spirit, but until then, I give you this warning:
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ “
